The Earth Eater (アースイーター?, Āsu Ītā) is a ground kaiju created by Hanna-Barbera that first appeared in the 1978 The Godzilla Power Hour episode, The Earth Eater.

History[]

Small earthquakes appeared in San Francisco, causing some buildings in the city to fall under the Earth's crust, around the same time Dr. Quinn has to go to a meeting in the area. When the Calico crew arrives, they find giant holes in place of buildings, and the Earth Eater was in one of them. The crew uses their head lights to get away from the Earth Eater, but the Earth Eater continues to follow them. Godzooky called Godzilla, and the Earth Eater started to fight Godzilla. The Earth Eater attacked Godzilla, and Godzilla attacked back with laser eye beams. The Earth Eater then used a sonic blast which stunned Godzilla and retreated underground.

The Calico crew was planning to knock out the Earth Eater with gas bombs, just when the Earth Eater burrowed up from the ground. Godzooky called Godzilla again, and as the crew escaped, more tremors started happening, which made them loose control of the car. Godzilla picked the car up and put it somewhere safe, and started fighting the Earth Eater again. Godzilla breathed fire on the Earth Eater, and the monster used his sonic blasts, which Godzilla dodged. Godzilla started to grapple with the Earth Eater until the Earth Eater escaped Godzilla's grip and used his sonic blasts to escape from Godzilla.

Godzilla and the Calico crew looked for the Earth Eater, and they found the monster at the Golden Gate Bridge. Godzilla immediately used his laser eyes on the Earth Eater. The Earth Eater tried killing Godzooky with his tail but Godzooky flew out of reach and the Earth Eater hit the bridge under him instead, causing it to collapse and the Earth Eater to fall down into the water, where he turned into mud.

Abilities[]

  • The Earth Eater can emit sonic blasts from his antenna that can stun enemies temporarily. These can also be used for burrowing.
  • The Earth Eater's tail has a gear-shaped tip, which can be used to hit things with.

Weaknesses[]

  • Contact with water will turn the Earth Eater into mud.
